Home births, doulas, and all natural births sound magical. It’s a nice thought to plan for a gentle, all-natural birth, but if we’re being honest, sometimes, birth plans go to shit.
Brittany had a legit birth plan outlining all the stages of labor. She decided to say “F*#k the birth plan” after 24 hours of miserable labor. After the epidural, things were gravy. You know, except for icing her vagina for six weeks after giving birth.
Betsy’s game plan was to wing it. She planned to watch Prison Break during labor on the Apple TV her husband brought to the hospital. She also planned to strip the hospital of all the towels, soap and throw-up buckets she could fit in a suitcase. Like Brittany, her labor did not go as planned. It was a lot less gentle than imagined.
